Silk and Steel is a short film about Moreška, Korčula’s traditional sword battle dance, which has lived for centuries as one of the island’s most powerful symbols.
Moreška is a story of love and war, of abduction and liberation, of two opposing sides meeting through rhythm, movement, and the strike of the sword. In it, the beauty of dance is inseparable from its intensity. Every step carries elegance, yet every clash of steel reminds us that this is still a battle.
This film explores that very duality.
The daytime scenes highlight the aesthetics of Moreška: movement, form, fabric, light, and the beauty of the dance. The nighttime scenes reveal its other side: speed, aggression, strength, sweat, the sound of steel, and the energy of combat.
